What are Psychic Mediums?

A psychic medium (often called just “Medium”) is a person who is said to be able to communicate with spirits or the energy of those who have passed on. So how can we prove one way or the other that a medium is real? Can the living communicate with those who have passed on?

Mediums will explain that their ability to communicate with spirits or the energy of those who have passed on is something that they cannot explain. Even those who make a living conducting readings cannot explain in detail how it works. Mediums use several methods to communicate including going into a trance, using objects to help them channel the psychic energy, or using extra sensory perception (ESP).

Mediums and Trances:

Mediums who use trances generally try to tune into psychic energy by putting themselves into a state of mental calm. By clearing their minds of thoughts and the physical world, they explain that they are better able to communicate with the spirit world.

How Extra Sensory Perception works:

Mediums who use Extra Sensory Perception (ESP) say they have the ability to receive information from an energy that is outside the normal energy sources. Mediums will often move around or step into or out of spaces to enable better communication with the energy they are trying to reach. This is different from Mediums who use objects, who usually are stationary.

Mediums and the use of Objects:

Mediums who use objects such as minerals or crystals, crystal balls or other items are said to be able to channel energy through the object, and receive focused energy through the object. Often people think of Gypsies and crystal balls, but there are several common uses of objects by Mediums including candles, incense and personal items that belonged to a person who passed on, and whom the Medium is trying to reach.
